I never met a book that is so gripping and so heartfelt at the same time. Another phenomenal book from Colleen Hoover! Sky, the female lead, defied my expectation from a teenager female lead. She doesn't have a phone nor a Facebook account. And she has been homeschooled! I mean, talk about living in the old times. She has been kissed, though. She just doesn't feel anything towards boys. Until Dean Holder came along.
I thought that Dean Holder will be this super bad guy. But not really. He's not a bad guy. He just looks like it and acts like it. He is so short fused in the book. Deep down, he is really sweet and compassionate. He tried to stay away from Sky but he can't.
The chemistry between them is PHENOMENAL! They're like two magnets! Just like in Maybe Someday, there are some intimate scenes here which adds more feels towards the actual thing, which is when Holder kisses Sky. I mean, just wow.
But the typical teenage love thing ends there. When you get to like the middle, hold on to your seats! I never expected such a major plot twist. While reading it, I was looking for clues as to why the book is called Hopeless and why Sky grew up that way. I literally gasped while I got to the climax. I mean, woah! I am utterly speechless.
So many things happened in the book. I love how each character became more realistic even if things were absolutely crazy. This book is beautifully tormented. It's a true roller coaster ride of emotions.
She loves music. LOVE music. Namely The Avett Brothers, Lumineers, Pink, Eminem. She is addicted to Diet Pepsi and could tell you in a taste-test which restaurant it came from. She gets stoked whenever she gets a message from Goodreads saying she has a new friend request. She wrote the Slammed Trilogy (Slammed, Point of Retreat and This Girl), Hopeless, Losing Hope, Finding Cindrella and Ugly Love.
